Indiana Jones 4K collection release set for June

Indiana Jones, 4K blu-ray, release

When a new format comes around, there are certain films that I find myself buying again and again, and the Indiana Jones movies are definitely at the top of that list. Starting with VHS, I made sure to add Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to my DVD and Blu-ray collections just as soon as they were available, and it looks like I'll be picking the franchise up again on 4K Ultra HD later this year.

Paramount Pictures have confirmed that all four films in the Indiana Jones franchise will be released on 4K Ultra HD on June 8th, with each film remastered from 4K scans of the original negatives approved by Steven Spielberg. I can't wait.

The famed adventurer will be back on the big-screen once more as Harrison Ford is slated to reprise his iconic role for Indiana Jones 5, but Steven Spielberg won't be back in the director's chair as he stepped down last year, saying that he wanted to "pass along Indy's whip to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story." James Mangold (Logan) stepped in to replace him and producer Frank Marshall said late last year that they were in the midst of working on the script. "Yeah, we are working on the script," Marshall said. "There will only be one Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford. What I’m excited about with Jim is a great story. I think you see that in his movies like Ford Vs Ferrari. It’s all about characters and telling a good story. So I’m excited to see what he comes up with." The film has already been delayed several times and it's currently slated for a July 29, 2022 release, but I'm not about to hold my breath.
