Doom is coming
2026 has already been christened as the year with the biggest summer box office take of all time. However, the end of the year will also see the release of two hotly anticipated franchise sequels — Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday. Tickets have already gone on sale nearly a month ago and within a week, the pre-sales had already topped the total for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Deadline is now reporting that Avengers: Doomsday has now crossed $50 million in ticket pre-sales with three months ahead. While Dune: Part Three will have the stranglehold on IMAX screenings at the time of its debut, Disney countered by putting Doomsday in a gimmicky premium format that they’re calling “Infinity Vision.” 70% of the ticket pre-sales have gone towards the Infinity Vision format as audiences are wanting to experience the movie in an IMAX-adjacent fashion.
Doomsday Synopsis
The short official synopsis from Marvel Studios reads,
“In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
The trailer for the film, which had become Disney’s most viewed trailer in history, ended with a promotion for their premium format screen, Infinity Vision — a new certification for Premium Large Format (PLF) theaters, guaranteeing moviegoers an exceptional film presentation with big screens, bright images and outstanding sound. Tickets for the highly anticipated film go on sale today. Marvel Studios has also released a new teaser poster, which you can check out below.
