Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced the Mortis Gods, three figures—The Father, The Son, and The Daughter—who embody the Force itself, and it seems they’ll have a role to play in the upcoming second season of Ahsoka.
The Mortis Gods in Ahsoka
At the end of the first season, Ahsoka and Sabine were left stranded on Peridea, a wasteland planet with giant statues of the Mortis Gods across the landscape.
Exactly how these deities will factor into the new season remains to be seen, but series creator Dave Filoni told Empire that they’re “definitely a thing.“
“What we’re dealing with is: are you going to believe in this, or not? And what is the danger if it’s real? And how are you going to prioritise your goals here?” Filoni said. “What would a Jedi do, versus what would a regular person do? Those things come up through the course of the season.“
Ahsoka Season 2
The second season will continue the story of Ahsoka Tano and her extraordinary journey beyond the known galaxy. The description reads: “As Ahsoka and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren travel across a mysterious and perilous world to find their way home, their friends Hera, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper must face the powerful Grand Admiral Thrawn and his sinister allies, who seek to plunge the New Republic into war.“
Rosario Dawson returns as Ahsoka Tano, alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ariana Greenblatt is also back as young Ahsoka, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.
Sadly, there is one big change as a new actor has taken over the role of Baylan Skoll. Ray Stevenson played the role in Ahsoka‘s first season, but he died just months before the series debuted. Skoll’s story will continue with Rory McCann of Game of Thrones taking on the role. McCann commented on stepping into the character last year. “I think it’s the right decision to carry on his storyline, not just cut it off,” he said. “We’ve done it before with other things. I hope the fans embrace it and I’ll do my best. I’m just starting now, so I’m just trying to be in the right zone for doing it. It’s pretty bloody exciting. I mean, I remember being a kid with my dad, going to the first one probably in the late ’70s and ’80s. Now I’m training with a lightsaber at night, so it’s pretty exciting.“
Ahsoka season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on January 20, 2027.
