A Classic Horror Story: All is not as it seems in Netflix’s new horror film

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Netflix's upcoming horror film A Classic Horror Story might sound like it's business as usual for the genre but the film's trailer hints at everything not being as it seems.

A Classic Horror Story is an upcoming Italian horror film that follows a group of strangers who travel to southern Italy. In a very meta fashion, they joke about being targeted by a lunatic à la Pennywise from It. The group soon finds themselves in the middle of their very own scary movie. The voiceover says "Why hasn't anybody said it yet? This is a classic horror movie." When the group thinks they have solved the puzzle to what's going on, they realize that it's all a setup and they're not the first to come across it.

The movie is clearly having some fun playing with typical horror movie cliches. The official synopsis reads, "A camper. A car crash. An abandoned house. Children's music in the background. Think you've seen it before? Look again." Even though the film does appear to be going very meta with its premise, the movie actually looks pretty scary and could very well entice horror movie fans when it hits Netflix.

Directed by Roberto De Feo and Paolo Strippoli, A Classic Horror Story stars Matilda Lutz, Will Merrick, Yuliia Sobol, Justin Korovkin, Peppino Mazzotta, Cristina Donadio, Francesco Russo, and Alida Baldari Calabria. Did YOU like the teaser? A Classic Horror Story hits Netflix on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. You can check out the film's official key art below!
