It was just a couple days ago that I gave you all a look at the first still from Joseph Kahn’s horror/comedy DETENTION. You guys remember that? Chances are you do because that still sported a pretty f*cked up slasher named ‘Cinderhella’ (right). You can’t just forget something like that…
Well today, courtesy of io9, not only do we have two more stills from the film to gawk at but we’ve also got a nice little interview with director Joseph Kahn! Nice! First up if you scroll directly below you’ll find the other new stills from the film, one of which sports a groovy looking bear costume and the other giving us a look at a pretty pissed off and bloody Dane Cook. Not too shabby. But what about the interview? Scope out a bit of what Kahn had to say regarding the project:
“I’m not really a huge horror fan to be honest. I like monster movies but slasher flicks grate on me with their blatantly misongynistic hang ups with women. I had a problem wrapping my head around some of the bad things I had to do to some of girls in this film to fit that aspect of the genre, but hopefully I think we made a focused point out of it. That said, Detention isn’t really a horror comedy. It’s kind of indescribable genre wise.”
[In regards to how time-travel fits into the story] “Maybe both, and maybe neither. Its definitely not what you expect it to be. This is not going to be an easy watch. You’re going to have to think and keep track of stuff as you watch it. Definitely easier to watch on repeat viewings.”
Interesting. I don’t know about you guys but DETENTION is sounding like something wicked original and potentially awesome… Go ahead and sign this poor schmuck up! DETENTION is about a group of teens who must survive their final year of high school, but standing in their way is a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life.
Along with Cook the flick is also set to star Carrie Wiita, Parker Bagley, Alison Woods, Walter Perez, Evan Williams, Josh Hutcherson, Shanley Caswell and Spencer Locke (below).
