A glut of sick stills from Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street

With roughly three and a half months from plaguing all of our dreams, we’ve recently been deluged with a glut of stills from Samuel Bayer’s visit to Elm Street. And you know what…them shits ain’t half bad!

In fact, direct homage to the original can be seen in a number of different shots, including the iconic bathtub image, the infamous ceiling fatality (which I’m positive will fall short of replication), even Johnny Depp’s #10 football shirt is recreated (albeit on a female this go around). And while that makes perfect sense for a remake, I had no clue Bayer and company were channeling WEIRD SCIENCE (“Do you realize it’s snowing in my room God damn it?!?”)

All japing aside, I am pretty excited to see what Jackie Earle Haley can offer as this generations Fred Krueger. Would I prefer Bob Englund in a reprisal? Of course. But I guess Haley’s role as a pedophilic miscreant in LITTLE CHILDREN gave way to play, well…a pedophilic miscreant with bad burns, and a sense of humor this time. Careful Jackie, typecasting is a bitch!

Also starring Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Kate Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, Lisa D. Mortensen, Charles E. Tiedje, Judith Hoag, Andrew Fiscella and Anna Hagopian – A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is written by Wesley Strick (WOLF, ARACHNOPHOBIA) and Eric Heisserer (the upcoming THING).

Check the stills below, eventhough most are plucked directly from the trailer, hey…Freddy’s a top seller!

Sleep safely until April 30th when the flick comes out!
