A Marvel comedy TV series is on the way, ABC developing Damage Control

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The Marvel Cinematic Universe already contains their fair share of comedy, but we could be close to our first outright Marvel comedy with Damage Control, a new Marvel TV series which is being developed at ABC. The network has purchased a script and a put pilot commitment for what will be a half-hour, single-camera sitcom. I might just have to see that to believe it.

According to Variety, Damage Control will follow:

The Marvel cleaning crew specializes in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from super hero conflicts. They are the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a super hero battle or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo. Sometimes the most important super heroes are the ones behind the scenes.

Damage Control has been developed by Ben Karlin (Modern Family), who will executive produce the series along with David Miner and Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb. Damage Control isn't the only Marvel television series in development at ABC, there's also a "top-secret" series by American Crime creator John Ridley and Marvel's Most Wanted, an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off which will feature Adrianne Palicki‘s Mockingbird and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter.

DC already has their own similar sounding project in development over at NBC which goes by the name of Powerless. That series will be "a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains."

A Marvel sitcom? What do you folks think of that?
