Yo! I’ve got a need, a need for speed, bitch!

When I first heard that they were going to do an adaptation of NEED FOR SPEED, I wondered what there was to be adapted….um, cars? Like many racing games there’s not much of a plot there. Whoever crosses the line first wins! Win in Italy! Win in France! Win and unlock more amazing cars! Unlock new courses! Then they were like, “Well, we’ve got Aaron Paul in the lead.” Okay, I’m there, who cares what it’s about.

These two new stills for the film focus on the human element. Paul will play a street racer looking for revenge after being linked to the death of a friend. The actor said this on the experience, “This set was different than anything I’ve been on. You’re walking through a very thick cloud of testosterone. It’s really a throwback to the Steve McQueen era of car movies. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised.”

Dominic Cooper will play the antagonist who starts dating Paul’s ex, Dakota Johnson. He shouldn’t get too upset. Imogen Poots will be there to comfort him.

NEED FOR SPEED races into theaters on March 14, 2014.
