Everything Marvel wants to do now Lucasfilm has to do. It is like having an annoying kid brother who has to copy your every move. Except in this instance, we the fans are the winners regardless of the outcome. While The Walt Disney Company owned ABC network has been advertising the hell out of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., rumblings have been happening since George Lucas sold his company that STAR WARS would be getting the same small screen treatment.

Over the weekend, ABC President Paul Lee told the Television Critics Association the following:

“We’ve started conversations with them. I have an inkling in my mind, but they have a lot on their plate.”

When THE AVENGERS was released it took less than a year for the pilot of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. to be filmed and greenlit to begin airing in the Fall. George Lucas previously indicated that there have been scripts completed for a live action STAR WARS series and it was only a matter of finding a way to produce the quality of a feature film on a television budget. But, that was also back when Lucasfilm was independent. Now, with the finances of ABC and Disney behind them, we may actually get that or some new version of it on the small screen.

It is amazing what can be done on television budgets these days. Just look at shows like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA or FALLING SKIES as examples of how good special effects can look on the small screen.
