Earlier this month I hit you all with the news that funnyman Zach Galifianakis had to drop out of Robert Schwentke’s buddy-genre flick R.I.P.D.. Now that was indeed a disappointment but wait until you hear who’s taking his place!

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog none other than the great Jeff Bridges is now up for the role! Hell according to the blog he’s in final talks! How in the hell do you go from Galifianakis to Bridges? No clue but I’m not complaining! Bridges will be playing one-half of the ghost-busting police duo, ‘a wise-cracking officer who’s been hunting spirits since the 1800s.’

Two cops, one recently dead and a gunslinger who’s been dead for hundreds of years, work on the Rest In Peace Department – which is the police department of the dead. And they basically…it takes place on a normal day and it’s about trying to keep the dead quiet.

Bridges joins the previously announced Ryan Reynolds, who has actually been attached to the project for a long ass time now. Once Bridges is signed, sealed and delivered hopefully it’ll light a fire under this one and get things rolling!
