Actor Ray Wise says Jeepers Creepers 3 inches closer to start date?

Any JEEPERS CREEPERS fans out there? Yes? We at AITH suggest you seek help!

Ah, just joshin’. Fan or no, it doesn’t change the fact that an extremely slow rolling third installment in the JEEPERS CREEPERS franchise is slowly starting to gather some momentum. Which would seem wise, given how we haven’t seen writer/director Victor Salva’s follow up creature feature in seven years. And speaking of wise, actor Ray Wise sat down with the boys at Bloody-Disgusting and promised a new film in the series is soon on the way. Check it…

While on the set of NUCLEAR FAMILY, B-D caught up with Ray Wise, star of JEEPERS CREEPERS 2, and quizzed him about a 3rd entry:

“The script for ‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ is complete,” Wise said. “They’re in pre-production planning now. I’m hopeful that sometime in the next two or three months we’ll get a start date…[MGM] definitely want[s] to do it, and it’s just a matter of putting together all the final financing I believe…I think it’s gonna be a go in a couple of months.”

Nice. Can’t do much without a completed script, so stage one is complete. But don’t you wonder which direction a third flick will travel? Wise addressed that as well:

“It begins right where the second one ended, right there in that barn with the Creeper on the wall and me the old man waiting there with my harpoon gun.”

Good shite. Nothing better for a sequel to pick up exactly where the last one left off. Makes it feel like an organic extension of the first, like a two part film instead of some detached piece of filmmaking that happens to feature the same title, characters, actors, etc. And in case you’re fretting Salva would fail to return to the director chair, rest assured:

“He wouldn’t let anybody touch that. The Creeper is his,” confides Wise.

And there ya are. Looks like The Creeper returns, perhaps sooner than you think. But here’s a question for ya…after a seven year gap, do you still have any interest in seeing a third JEEPERS CREEPERS movie? Has the ship sailed on? And what about 3D, who else is willing to bet when all is said and done this sumbitch will end up in the third dimension?

Chamber time!
