Alexandre Aja’s PIRANHA 3D is gearing up to hit us later this Summer and everything thus far has this thing being a fun time at the movies. Not only do we have insane amounts of gore and babes, but it’s in 3D! Tack onto that a pretty impressive cast with a spot-on director and we may actually have something here! One man who thinks so is actor Adam Scott!
Scott (right), more known for his comedic roles, will be heading into our genre this Summer as part of Aja’s PIRANHA 3D. Scott is actually getting ready for Season 2 of “Party Down” over on Starz so the actor has been making the rounds, talking up his comedy series. Luckily for us Scott has also been talking a bit about PIRANHA 3D!
“…..It was really fun, but the movie itself—apparently it’s the bloodiest movie in history, which is easy to believe, because at the lake we were shooting at, they had a tanker truck filled with fake blood that would just pump into the lake continually during this one massacre scene. So apparently gallon for gallon, the bloodiest movie of all time. So take that information and either come see it or avoid it.”
With that said, I’m pretty sure I’ll most definitely be there on opening day! Who in their right mind would want to avoid something like that? That’s a piece of the interview Scott had with the AV Club recently, as is this following bit:
“…..I think Piranha won’t be in the guilty-pleasure category, because it’s gonna be—well, yeah, maybe for some people. From what I’ve seen, it has a sense of humor about itself, and it’s also really scary and really, really violent. I would call it a popcorn movie from the planet Popcorn. It’s just all boobs, blood, and—I don’t know, what’s the other “b”? Barbecue.”
The only ‘Three Bs’ I know are Blood, Bullets and Broads ala the AITH Podcast baby! But that’s not all! Adam Scott isn’t done yet! The actor also had a chance to chat it up with USA Weekend, where he spilled more details on PIRANHA 3D:
“…I loved Piranha. It was a really fun horror film. This one will be really cool – Alexandre Aja, who directed it, is a pretty incredible guy. He directed High Tension a few years ago, which was a wonderful horror film that was really artful and really terrifying and disgusting. As far as horror films go, it was about as good as you can get. This’ll be a nice mix of a lot of humor in there — it doesn’t take itself very seriously – but also I think the trick will be you’ll be laughing because there’s a lot of comedy, but as you’re laughing, then you’ll be hit with horrible, disgusting violence.”
So there you have it folks! “The bloodiest horror movie in history.” Well sh*t, I’m sold! PIRANHA 3D stars Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Jerry O’Connell, Ving Rhames, Steven R. McQueen, Dina Meyer, Paul Scheer, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Jessica Szohr, Kelly Brook and Riley Steele (both pictured below). It hits theaters everywhere August 27th!
