Adam Wingard tries his hand at found footage horror in The Woods trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Adam Wingard has been making a name for himself with films like YOU’RE NEXT and THE GUEST, and now it seems as if he’s tried his hand at a type of found footage film with the likes of THE WOODS. Not much has been revealed about the plot, except that it follows a group of college students on a camping trip who discover that they are not alone. So what kind of scares does this typical horror plot pave the way for? See for yourself with the first trailer!

I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of Wingard’s efforts thus far (at least from what I’ve seen), but I’ll admit that he does usually inject a sense of fun into the proceedings. While I’m not inherently against a found footage or POV flick, I am kinda over the premise seeing as how there have been so many over the years. Still, I’m sure Wingard and writer Simon Barrett found some sort of twist to apply to the tried and true formula.

THE WOODS will hit theaters on September 16, 2016.
