A&E will be going back to the drawing board with underperforming new drama series "Those Who Kill", pulling the show after two low-rated episodes in the the Monday 10 PM slot, behind "Bates Motel", according to THR.
The freshman detective drama based on the Danish format and inspired by Elsebeth Egholm's books and starring Chloe Sevigny will be pulled from the schedule effective immediately, with A&E moving sophomore drama "Bates Motel" back an hour, to the 10 p.m. slot, to replace "Those Who Kill". But don't write "Those Who Kill" off just yet as a new time slot for the series is to be determined later this week, as the network likes the show and has faith that it can find an audience.
"Those Who Kill" began its run on March 4, pulling in a low 1.4 million viewers, even with a strong "Bates Motel" lead-in. The number of viewers for "Those Who Kill" fell to a paltry 830,000 in the second episode. Ouch!
While "Bates Motel" is only two episodes into its second season, many have complained that it hasn't lived up to the promise of the first season. To that I say "Give it time". It's much too early to write it off as suffering from a sophomore slump.
New episodes of "Bates Motel" will begin airing at 10pm/e on Mondays on A&E, beginning with next weeks episode 'Caleb'.
