Just the other day, I stated that I had never heard of any horror movies from India. Well, wouldn’t ya know, I just came across number two and I’m already diggin’ it’s horror/comedy vibe! The flick is called IT’S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE (nice!) and it’s being describe by writer/director, Gurinder Chadha (right), as a combination of MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING and SHAUN OF THE DEAD. As long as nobody from the GREEK movie will appear in this new film (unless they are being horribly killed), then I’m down with that description.
Here’s a quick taste of the actual synopsis: The story follows a British-Asian mother whose obsession to marry off her daughter comically leads to serial murder.
Call me crazy, but that sure sounds like a recipe for fun. Plus, Chadha certainly knows a thing or two about making a quality film. She and her husband/producing partner, Paul Berges, also made the hit BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM. The cast for AFTERLIFE is shaping up to include Shabana Azmi in the lead, newcomer Goldy Notay, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Shaheen Khan (also from BECKHAM), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (HEROES). Filming is set to being this April.

wishes he was in Knightley.
