This is honestly the first I’ve heard of Alejandro Amenabar’s upcoming historical epic AGORA starring Rachel Weisz, and I’m not quite sure what that says about myself as a journalist and as a human being. Frankly I think I deserve to be gunned down by a gang of rabid Nazis. Amenabar’s THE OTHERS was one of the more competent ghost films in recent memory and THE SEA INSIDE remains one of my favorite films of the decade. AGORA is set in Roman Egypt and features Max Minghella as a slave who falls in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor and atheist Hypatia of Alexandria played by Weisz. The film will be released in December and showing at Cannes but you can check out the brand new poster below.
