I don’t know about everyone else, but I sure am pleased as hell with how all things H2 are progressing so far. Have you guys seen the look of Mr. Myers’ new mask? That is some awesome scary shit! I feel that a lot of the credit for keeping HALLOWEEN as fresh as a new-picked pumpkin deserves to go to Mr. Malek Akkad (in addition to Zombie, of course). After the tragic death of his father (and original HALLOWEEN producer) Moustapha Akkad, Malek (up top with Rob and Sheri) was left with the task of continuing the October 31st legacy. Clearly, the man was ready for the challenge.
Our fiends over at STYD got a chance to speak with Malek on the set of H2, concerning Michael’s future on film with this current sequel not so much of a remake as Zombie’s first outing. Have a look at what he said: “This is taking it to a place the fans have never seen before. To me, that’s exciting because it’s a whole new side to Michael, a whole new look to Michael. Where we go from here is anyone’s guess, we’re just focusing on this one right now. I think Rob has ended it in a way that is very satisfying and complete. It feels like these two films are Rob’s take. We’ll address it if we see the possibility to go forward later, but the potential’s there.”
That is some very interesting shit. To find out some more of Akkad’s feelings, especially on fan reactions, you can read the rest of the article here. As for myself, I’m quite content with what is transpiring with Zombie’s input. It certainly beats the crap out of all the other HALLOWEEN sequels churned out after part II (but I did really like H20). So, yes, I’m totally down for steering Michael in some new direction. It’s like having our own reborn HALLOWEEN series that logically allows Mr. Myers to continue his silent stalking for another 20 years!
