Alama Drafthouse to hold 35mm theatrical screening of Eric Red’s 100 Feet

Over the course of his career as a screenwriter and director, Eric Red has told us stories about vampires (NEAR DARK), werewolves (BAD MOON), body horror (BODY PARTS), and madmen (THE HITCHER, BLUE STEEL). When he decided to try his hand at telling a ghost story, he came up with one that has a genius concept, a haunted house movie in which the heroine can't leave the ghost's domain because she's under house arrest.

Red's ghost story is the 2008 film 100 FEET, which stars Famke Janssen, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Paré, and our own John "The Arrow" Fallon. The synopsis:

A young woman, Marnie Watson, is granted early release from her prison sentence for manslaughter (killing her husband – a violent NYC cop – in self defense) on condition she wear an electronic ankle bracelet and remain within her home, effectively under house arrest,  for the rest of her sentence. Her late husband's partner keeps tabs on her from a patrol car parked across the street, hoping she'll violate probation and he can send her back to prison. But the 100-foot radius her ankle bracelet allows isn't the worst of her problems. Her dead husband — now a malevolent ghost — is still in the house, where he died — intent on savage revenge.

Unfortunately, few people have ever seen 100 FEET on the big screen. The movie premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2009 before getting a DVD release. Seven years later, the Alamo Drafthouse will be giving 100 FEET the big screen treatment it deserves as part of an Eric Red two-film event that is set to be held at the Littleton, Colorado venue on Thursday, October 27th.

Things kick off at 7:30pm with a showing of Red's BODY PARTS, with the screening of 100 FEET to follow at 10:15pm. To make it even more enticing, both films will be presented in 35mm. And even cooler yet? Writer/director Eric Red will be at both screenings.

Red provided us with this exclusive quote, celebrating the fact that an audience will finally be getting their chance to see 100 FEET in a theatre: 

100 FEET is being shown as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen where the scares will make you jump out of your seat, which audiences do every time we show it in a theater. The movie was shot on film in widescreen Super 35MM, and the look was fantastic. This is a film of darkness, shadowy and dramatic, with some scenes filmed entirely by candlelight. Cinematographer Ken Kelsch and I had the opportunity to go old school ROSEMARY'S BABY-style all the way, creating the scary mood and atmosphere using the beauty of film emulsion instead of going digital. With Famke Janssen's powerhouse performance, gritty Brooklyn filming locations, and a shocking ghost sequence so gruesome you'll never forget it, join me for a special showing of 100 FEET at Alamo Drafthouse.
