Alan Taylor has apologized for his comments on the Thor: The Dark World mid-credits scene

Director Alan Taylor raised a few eyebrows with his remarks a couple of weeks ago on the mid-credits scene that appears in THOR: THE DARK WORLD. Some felt he was being disrespectful to James Gunn (who directed the scene), and thought Taylor should know by now that working with Marvel means being a team player.

A video has surfaced online from Moviereporter.de of Alan Taylor apologizing for his comments, and in it the director says he has nothing but respect for James Gunn.

James Gunn also recently confirmed on his Facebook that Taylor has apologized while replying to a comment made by a fan:

"Alan has apologized profusely both personally to me and to the press. He's a good guy."

Gunn also shared some details on the mid-credits scene on his Facebook:

"It was shot in two hours at the end of a 2nd unit day. We had just gotten the script (not by me). We thought it was more important to give people a link to Guardians, but weren't able to do it until the last minute."

By the way, Gunn says if you really want to see the footage for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY that was shown at Comic-Con, you're probably going to have to wait for the film to be released on Blu-Ray.

Listen, I love it. But it was thrown together after 12 days of shooting, a mix of shots, makeup tests, and camera tests. The visual effects (especially Rocket and Groot) were temps at best. Our "Nebula" isn't even Karen Gillan in the footage, but a girl we were testing Karen's makeup on. So although it perfectly captures the flavor of the film, there's no way it would hold up to the scrutiny that comes with posting something like that on the internet – nor would the general audience be able to understand "these are just temps and comps and makeup tests." So it is never ever going to happen, except for maybe on the Blu-Ray AFTER the film comes out.

It'll be interesting to see if Taylor's comments (and the so-so reviews for THOR: THE DARK WORLD) will have an impact on him directing another THOR movie, or anything else for Marvel.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD is in theaters now, and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will be released on July 31st, 2014.
