Alan Tudyk takes a role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Alan Tudyk is a guy we all like no matter what role he’s in. Whether he’s a wannabe pirate in DODGEBALL or the pilot in FIREFLY or a man with an anger issue in A KNIGHT’S TALE–we all love him.

That said, Variety got the scoop that Tudyk was cast in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER. The actor will play the role of Stephen A. Douglas in the Timur Bekmambetov directed film.

Stephen A. Douglas is not a work of fiction, he was in fact, the running mate to Abraham Lincoln in 1860. In the book, Lincoln debates with Douglas, who is the ally to Southern Vampires. Two years before Abraham defeated Douglas, it was Douglas who had the upper hand in a series of debates for a senate contest.

Tudyk will join Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Robin McLeavy (THE LOVED ONES). McLeavy just signed on for the role of Lincoln’s mom.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER is due to release June 22, 2012.
