Gregory Levasseur, who has collaborated with Alexandre Aja on the scripts for HIGH TENSION, THE HILLS HAVE EYES and MANIAC, is getting his own crack behind the camera with THE PYRAMID, a horror flick being distributed by 20th Century Fox and produced by Aja. This one has been under the radar for the most part (It had been known as SITE 146), but it now appears as though the distributor has found a release date for the thriller: December 5, 2014.

Here’s the synopsis:

A team of U.S. archaeologists unearths an ancient pyramid buried deep beneath the Egyptian desert. As they search the pyramid’s depths, they become hopelessly lost in its dark and endless catacombs. Searching for a way out, they become desperate to seek daylight again. They come to realize they aren’t just trapped, they are being hunted.

Hopefully we’ll get some tangible goods from this one soon.

The cast includes Ashley Hinshaw, Denis O’Hare, James Buckley and Daniel Amerman. The script was penned by Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon.
