Alice in Chains drops first 2 episodes of Black Antenna starring Paul Sloan

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Call me behind the curve, but I wasn't aware this series existed. You learn something new every day, isn't that what they say? Anyhow, the series in question is actually a 90-minute sci-fi thriller cut up into 10-minute segments. It's called BLACK ANTENNA and – get this – is set against songs from Alice in Chains' sixth studio album Rainier Fog. Evidently, the film is "a perfect synergy of the band’s lyrics," that "paints a dark and beautiful canvas of the deeply conflicted world we live in today." All I know is the movie stars Paul Sloan who's set to star in John Fallon's upcoming action flick HERETIC.

BLACK ANTENNA director Adam Mason said in a statement:

This movie came out of nowhere for me.  As soon as I heard the album, the music and lyrics spoke to me on a profoundly personal level and the film and subject matter was born directly out of that. I’ve always been a huge fan of Alice In Chains, and this has been a dream come true for me.

Adam Mason directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Paul Sloan. Autonomous FX (BLADE RUNNER 2049, BRIGHT, and MINDHUNTER) provided the movie's special effects and Jason Collins acts as an executive producer along with Alice In Chains. Mason also produced the flick along with Elizabeth Mason and Nick Vallelonga (who just won the Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture Oscars for that one movie no one seems to actually like called GREEN BOOK). And speaking of which, this film stars GREEN BOOK actor Paul Sloan as Alpha along with Viktoriya Dov, Darri Ingolfsson (DEXTER), Lily Robinson, Eric Michael Cole, Mike Hatton, Luke Shelton, Jerry Raines, and Daniel Louis Rivas.

The film follows a father and daughter as they

traverse the state robbing men who Beta "seduces, taking cellphones, laptops, whatever they can find. Alpha is trying to build something – an antenna – desperately trying to find a way to get a message to their people back home. Meanwhile, there are unspeakably dark forces who have discovered their existence and are now hell-bent on tracking them down and eradicating them before more of their kind can come and join them.

Alice in Chains dropped the new album, which is named after Seattle's volcano, Mount Rainier, back on August 24, 2018, and now they have released the first two episodes of Black Antenna. You can check them out below. Episode 1 is called "The One You Know” and Episode 2 is fittingly called “Rainier Fog.” Evidently, episode two comes with a "nudity warning." So, you know, consider yourself "warned." Let us know what you think!
