James Cameron‘s sci-fi classic Aliens is getting a limited-edition hardcover featuring behind-the-scenes stories, rare artwork, and interviews with the cast and crew.
Forty years after Aliens changed science fiction forever, fans are getting another way to celebrate the iconic sequel. Dark Ink has announced Aliens: Expanded, a deluxe limited-edition coffee table book inspired by the Aliens: Expanded documentary from CREATORVC. The oversized hardcover dives deep into the making of James Cameron’s 1986 classic with behind-the-scenes stories, production analysis, and interviews with many of the people who helped bring the film to life.
Written by Daily Dead Editor-in-Chief Jonathan James, the book draws from conversations with Cameron, Sigourney Weaver, producer Gale Anne Hurd, Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reiser, and many more cast and crew members, exploring why Aliens continues to rank among the greatest science fiction films ever made.
Robin Block, Founder and CEO of CREATORVC, said the company is excited to once again partner with Dark Ink after previous successful collaborations.
“We’re excited that more of our efforts are getting into the hands of the fanbase, and given the caliber of Dark Ink’s previous offerings, I think this limited edition hardback will sell out very quickly.”
Dark Ink founder Michael Aloisi added:
“Aliens is one of the most important sci-fi films ever made, and this book is designed to be the definitive collector’s piece for fans of the film and documentary alike.”

A companion to the four-hour Aliens documentary
The book expands on the documentary Aliens: Expanded, a four-hour retrospective released by CREATORVC that explored every aspect of Cameron’s legendary sequel.
The documentary featured interviews with James Cameron alongside cast members Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, Jenette Goldstein, Mark Rolston, William Hope, Carrie Henn, and many others. It also examined the film’s production, visual effects, expanded universe, merchandising, and the passionate fan community that has kept Aliens alive for four decades.
For longtime fans, the new hardcover appears to serve as the definitive print companion to that documentary, collecting additional artwork, production history, and commentary into a premium collector’s edition. Will you be adding Aliens: Expanded to your collection?
