The newest clip from the movie adaptation of Stephen King's CELL transplants his vicious opening scene from a public park to an airport. Although I personally feel that the opening scene of the novel is the single best part and lament its alteration, it's still a decently solid moment as a vicious Danny Boyle-style rage infects the public around a wimpy John Cusack. At the Boston airport, Clay (Cusack) witnesses a scene of chaotic mayhem when an electronic signal turns hundreds of cell phone users into rabid killers. Desperate to find his estranged wife and son, Clay teams with a train driver (Samuel L. Jackson) to battle the horde of murderous “phoners” as the city descends into apocalyptic madness.
Directed by Tod Williams, the movie also stars Stacy Keach, Owen Teague, and Isabelle Fuhrman.
CELL hits "ultra VOD" on June 10th before moving onto a limited theatrical and wide VOD release July 8th.
