Amanda Seyfried to join Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West

Amanda Seyfried‘s career keeps taking turns in unexpected directions. 2013 looks like quite the year for her with the positive buzz surrounding LOVELACE heating up and now her inclusion in Seth MacFarlane‘s follow up to TED.

The western comedy A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST already cast Charlize Theron and now The Hollywood Reporter has Seyfriend in talks to join as well. MacFarlane will script, direct, and star in the movie that follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him. When he meets the wife of a notorious outlaw (Theron) who offers to teach him how to shoot, the farmer sees a chance to win back his love.

Seyfriend would play the girlfriend who leaves him. My only problem with the setup is there is no way that I would choose Seyfriend over Charlize Theron, ever. But, movies all require some suspension of disbelief, right?

I would assume MacFarlane will continue the same format he has used for FAMILY GUY and TED, featuring cutaway gags and pop culture references. A full period movie may be an interesting departure for the filmmaker, but I am intrigued to see where he goes with it.

A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST will start shooting in May for a likely release in late 2013 or possibly next year.
