American Horror Story Freak Show Twisty Clown

Okay, guys, this is super serious so I don’t want any of you clowning around back there. Sit down, shut up and listen. Last week FX kicked off their latest season of “American Horror Story” (read our review here), and with its premiere came the introduction of Twisty, a shit-inducing murderous clown with a grin from ear to ear. Well, some real-life clowns were none to happy to see yet another negative light being shined on their kind. Not cool, FX, not cool.

Glenn Kohlberger, president of Clowns of America International, said, "Hollywood makes money sensationalizing the norm. They can take any situation no matter how good or pure and turn it into a nightmare." Yes, Kohlberger, they can. "We do not support in any way, shape or form any medium that sensationalizes or adds to coulrophobia or 'clown fear,' " he added.

He’s right, over the years TV and film haven’t exactly made a good case for clowns, but that’s not the sole reason why people are afraid of them. We’re afraid of clowns because you guys are legitimately f*cking terrifying. You are grown ass men with painted on smiles that wear rainbow colored pants. It’s not a TV show or a movie’s fault that your profession is one that happens to involve delivering a lifetime’s worth of night terrors; the bloodcurdling laugh and freakishly large feet aren't helping either.
