American Horror Story is getting a spin-off with contained episodes

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There's probably not going to be a new season of American Horror Story airing on FX this year. Although a tenth season was announced, the COVID-19 shutdown has gone on long enough that it's not likely the season will be able to go into production soon enough to make a 2020 premiere date. Even when filming is able to begin, series co-creator Ryan Murphy is concerned that they will have to change themes, because the initial idea he had would require them to shoot during a specific time of year.

But while the immediate future of the show is uncertain, Murphy has gone ahead and let it slip that we're not only going to get more American Horror Story eventually, there's also going to be a spin-off show called American Horror Stories.

According to a post on Murphy's Instagram, American Horror Stories will be taking an old school anthology approach, as it will consist of "one hour contained episodes".

I'm way behind on everything American Horror Story, but I look forward to catching up on it one of these days.
