The Sam Worthington-Jeffrey Dean Morgan-led, Ami Canaan Mann-directed thriller TEXAS KILLING FIELDS has been slowly but surely making its way to screen for years. Now that it’s ready to show itself to the world, a release date has finally been bestowed upon it.
According to Variety, TEXAS KILLING FIELDS will be released on OCTOBER 7th via Anchor Bay Films. Most likely it will be a limited release, but the two stars should give it some buzz. Now the studio just has to start giving it some actual promo materials; all we’ve seen is an old poster (boating a shorter title: THE FIELDS), a behind-the-scenes still (which you see above) and an Italian trailer.
The film will first premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The synopsis: Inspired by true events, this tense and haunting thriller follows a local homicide detective (Sam Worthington) in a small Texan town and his partner, a transplanted cop from New York City (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they track a sadistic serial killer dumping his victims’ mutilated bodies in a nearby marsh locals call “The Killing Fields”.
The killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When a familiar local girl, Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz) goes missing the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find the killer and save her life.
