Just a few weeks out from the debut of the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunion, Once and Always, actress Amy Jo Johnson (better known to many as the Pink Ranger aka Kimberly Hart) is yet again explaining why she wasn’t part of the moment, debunking any rumors that have come her way.

In a Twitter post from this week, Amy Jo Johnson wrote, “Please stop saying I didn’t do reunion because of money Simply not true. Maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s…or couldn’t go to NZ for a month.Or none of ur beeswax…JDF & I both chose not to for our own reasons. They filmed before he passed”.

Amy Jo Johnson addressed her absence from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers installment back in January as well, saying, “For the record I never said no…I just didn’t say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in-store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick ass!” Indeed, she has been supportive of the cast who did sign on, also tweeting, “Excited to see my pals @David_Yost & @Walterejones rock it though!! #PowerRangers”. Johnson played the Pink Ranger not just in the wildly successful television series, but also the first two features, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997).

While Amy Jo Johnson’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, many fans have come to her defense, saying she doesn’t owe an explanation at all and that her legacy in the franchise doesn’t require her to sign on for any additional projects. Johnson won’t be the only missing Power Ranger from Once and Always. Tragically, Jason David Frank, who played Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver, died back in November. Frank was a stalwart of the franchise, appearing in 10 series and four movies.

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always, “the Rangers come face-to-face with a familiar threat from the past. In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs.” Once and Always comes to Netflix on April 14th.

Do you think the lack of Amy Jo Johnson and Jason Davis Frank will hurt the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reunion?
