Another new trailer for Riddick starring Vin Diesel finds its way out of the dark

Vin Diesel has got his contacts back in for another go 'round as RIDDICK and this new trailer showcases the return to the "darker" roots that were established in the first entry of the franchise, PITCH BLACK. The trailer is basically a scaled-back version of the red-band Comic Con version, but that doesn't diminish its coolness. If you're a fan of the series then this is likely a shoe-in for you (as it is for me) and a little more marketing doesn't hurt.

Rule the dark:

Here's the synopsis:

Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick's past.

With a sparse, uneventful September, RIDDICK is pretty much the only pic I will likely catch in the theaters that month and I think that may be a similar case for many of us. Well, not including BATTLE OF THE YEAR, of course, for which I'm sure many of you are beyond stoked for, right? Right? Hey, where you goin'?

RIDDICK starts crackin' skulls on September 6, 2013.
