Anthony Hopkins is an amazing actor. Kind of hard to argue with that considering the man won a Best Actor Oscar for only sixteen minutes of screen time. Right? Right. Well since you agree with me you’ll be stoked to hear Mr. Hopkins will be diving into our beloved genre once again!
Not only will Hopkins be playing with the supernatural, he’ll be a priest who is an expert in exorcisms! Natch! The news comes from over at the Heat Vision blog, where they state that Hopkins (right) has just signed on for THE RITE. The film, coming at us from New Line, has Mikael Hafstrom directing a script from Michael Petroni, which itself was adapted from the novel “The Rite” by Matt Baglio. Still with me? Nice. Based on true events, the story centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.
