Antlers clip: a kid needs to feed a beast in Scott Cooper / Guillermo del Toro film

Directed by Scott Cooper and produced by Guillermo del Toro, the horror film Antlers was given a wide theatrical release this past Friday – but given that it only made $4 million over the Halloween weekend, I’m going to assume that most genre fans seeing this article have not gone out to watch the movie. If you haven’t been sold on Antlers yet, maybe the creepy clip embedded above, in which a kid reveals he has a disturbing “food for affection” arrangement, will make you want to see the full film.

JoBlo’s own Gaius Bolling gave Antlers an 8/10 review that you can read at THIS LINK. He also interviewed Cooper and star Keri Russell, and you can see the video of that interview below.

Based on Nick Antosca’s short story The Quiet Boy, the film was scripted by Antosca and C. Henry Chaisson, with revisions by Cooper. Here’s the synopsis:

In an isolated Oregon town, a middle-school teacher (Keri Russell) and her sheriff brother (Jesse Plemons) become embroiled with her enigmatic student (Jeremy T. Thomas) whose dark secrets lead to terrifying encounters with a legendary ancestral creature who came before them.

Russell, Plemons, and Thomas are joined in the cast by Graham Greene, Amy Madigan, Scott Haze, and Rory Cochrane.

J. Miles Dale and David S. Goyer produced Antlers with del Toro. Smoke Signals director Chris Eyre served as a consultant.

While I’m interested in seeing Antlers and was looking forward to checking it out on the big screen when it was building up to its original theatrical release date of April 17, 2020, things have changed since then. Now Antlers is a “wait to watch at home” movie for me, as all movies are at this time.

Have you seen Antlers? If so, what did you think of it? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
