Okay, now this is getting weird. Yesterday, Fangoria reported that THE FLY would be making the transition to opera, and today, it was reported on an Italian website that Dario Argento would have a hand in bringing his 1975 flick DEEP RED (aka PROFONDO ROSSO) to the stage.

According to the site, the show would be directed by Marco Daverio, and that Argento would serve as artistic supervisor. Longtime Argento collaborators Claudio Simonetti (of ‘Goblin’ fame) and Sergio Stivaletti would contribute to music and special FX, respectively. Casting is currently underway (Italian thespianss can apply here if you think you’ve got it), and the show is in the early planning stages for a debut during the 2007-2008 season. Now all that needs to be done is for Wes Craven to bring A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET to broadway (oh, wait a minute…).
