Armie Hammer boards making of The Godfather series for Paramount+

Armie Hammer, The Godfather

Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather has certainly earned its position as one of the greatest films ever made, but the story behind the making of the film is a pretty good one as well. That story aims to be told in a new ten-part limited-series slated to debut on Paramount+, ViacomCBS' upcoming streaming service which will be a rebrand of CBS All Access, and Deadline has reported that Armie Hammer (Death on the Nile) has joined the Godfather series.

Armie Hammer will play the film's producer Al Ruddy in The Offer, which will be based on Ruddy's "never before revealed experiences" of making the iconic film. The Offer will be written and executive produced by Michael Tolkin (Escape at Dannemora), with the real-life Al Ruddy also serving as an executive producer alongside Nikki Toscano (Hunters) and Leslie Greif (Hatfields & McCoys). Ruddy would receive the Academy Award for Best Picture for The Godfather, and went on to produce films such as The Longest Yard, The Cannonball Run, and Million Dollar Baby. And no, you're not mis-remembering, The Offer isn't the only project revolving around the making of The Godfather currently in the works as Barry Levinson (Wag the Dog) is also developing a feature-film about the making of the classic film featuring an all-star cast. Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) is slated to star as Francis Ford Coppola with Jake Gyllenhaal (Spider-Man: Far From Home) onboard to play Robert Evans. It's expected that Paramount+ will replace CBS All Access early next year.

Armie Hammer will next be seen in Kenneth Branagh's Death on the Nile alongside Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman 1984). The film was slated to hit theaters on December 18th, but 20th Century Studios finally pulled the film from the schedule just last month and it remains to be seen just when the murder-mystery will land.
