Although WARCRAFT has been performing fairly well internationally in the box-office department, it didn't wind up being the saviour of video-game movies that many were hoping it would be. Those hopes have now fallen to ASSASSIN'S CREED, the upcoming adaptation of the Ubisoft game franchise starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Fassbender takes on a dual-role in the film, that of Callum Lynch and his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, both of which feature in these new images from the Justin Kurzel film.

"We work in the dark, to serve the light."

An official synopsis for ASSASSIN'S CREED:

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

ASSASSIN'S CREED is set for a December 21, 2016 release.
