Austin Powers 4: Mike Myers would love to make another shagadelic sequel

Austin Powers 4, Mike Myers, The Pentaverate

Mike Myers says he would love to make Austin Powers 4, but is the world prepared for the shagadelic super spy to return to the realm of off-color comedy? Myers certainly hopes so, even if the project doesn’t currently exist.

Appearing on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show to promote his Netflix series The Pentaverate, Myers hinted at the possibility of another Austin Powers project being in the mix. While Myers was careful not to confirm or deny the existence of plans for an Austin Powers 4, it sounds like he would leap at the chance to make it happen.

“I would love to do one. I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project; should it exist or not exist? You know, we’re, you know…”

Naturally, co-hosts Cagle and Julia Cunningham saw this as an opportunity to press the matter. Myers then replied, “It was a non-confirmed, confirmation confirmation.”

Rumors of an Austin Powers 4 have been floating around for years. The Austin Powers films were wildly popular upon release, and costumes of the title character still sell like hotcakes every year at Spirit Halloween. Anyone’s guess is how a crude and relatively clueless character like Austin Powers would survive a post #MeToo era, though I suppose Myers would approach a sequel with that in mind. While I think Myers’ toilet humor approach to comedy is antiquated, people love a great comeback story, and I’d love to see him return grandly. Maybe The Pentaverate is the start of a Mike Myers revival? Who knows? Maybe Meyers’ new series does well enough for Netflix to offer him a shot at making Austin Powers 4.

What do you think the odds are that Myers will make another Austin Powers sequel? Are you excited about The Pentaverate? Please sound off in the comments section and let us know.

The Pentaverate premieres on Netflix tomorrow, May 5th.
