Awesome featurette on the “slow-mo” of Dredd 3D highlights the visual effects

One of the big sells for the upcoming DREDD 3D is the cool-looking use of slow motion, which ties directiy into the film’s use of an illegal drug called slow-mo.  The drug in the film causes users to see everything in a “peaceful” slowed-down vision, but also causes them to see Judge Dredd lay wasted to them and their pals just the same.  Works out both ways for the audience!

At this point, I think most folks are sold on whether or not they’re going to check this out.  I’m onboard and will definitely be checking this out in 3D, which isn’t something I always chase down.  However, given the angle the filmmakers have taken with the format in DREDD 3D, it looks like it may well be worth my while.

DREDD 3D, starring Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, and Lena Headey, hits theaters on September 21, 2012.
