So last night, right before going to bed, I knelt down, clasped my hands together, and prayed a little pray that God would inspire some genius to tell a tale about hot, wealthy teenaged girls fighting each other while wearing skimpy bikinis on a Bahaman beach.
I must be one of God’s favorite scamps, because that wish was granted today, with The Hollywood Reporter acting as the messenger. MTV Films is getting ready to make BAD GIRLS, based on Alex McAulay’s novel, which is said to be MEAN GIRLS meets LORD OF THE FLIES (a description you’ll either love or truly loathe). For whatever reason, the title is being changed to THE LOST GIRLS. (perhaps to make a few unwitting imbeciles think they’re going to see a LOST BOYS sequel?)
The premise is this: A troubled 16 year old girl is shipped away by her conservative parents to a wilderness survival camp – one that specializes in treating wild and crazy teenage babes. But the camp turns out to be a militaristic nightmare, complete with physical and mental abuse (all scored to a hip Avril Lavigne tune, no doubt). But things really get shitty when murderous drug smugglers arrive, and the girls get lost in the jungle where they have to fend for themselves. Of course, their worst enemies turn out to be each other. Über-catfight!
Holly Brix has been tapped to write the screenplay. Hopefully casting will begin shortly. (expect offers to go out to Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, pronto!)
Someone’s been naughty… (hint: it’s the hot chick in this picture)
