Bay talks Tformers 2

Seems as though Michael Bay has been a busy boy during the writer’s strike. According to an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, he’s already written TRANSFORMERS 2. Take that, Ehren Kruger!

“I’ve been writing Transformers 2. We’ve got our characters all designed. I always write all my scripts, my movies anyway so at least I’ve got something to give the writers. It’s like a template. We have a really good outline so I worked on that.”

Now, I knew approximately 20 writers will work on any given Michael Bay project, but color me surprised that it’s actually him doing most of the creating. That explains a lot… (Of course there’s always the chance Bay is blowin’ smoke up his own hindquarters, isn’t there?)

What level of genius can we expect from the sequel?

“When you do your first movie, you break the back of it. Now we can have a lot more fun. We can actually make the depth of these characters more fun and a lot more interesting characters. To see actually what you can achieve visually, you never know. When you go into a movie, you never know visually. I think I’ve got a lot of fun, interesting, funny characters.”

Jeez the guy talks like Uwe Boll… As for the funny characters, let me guess: are they hysterically screaming African Americans? Ah hell, if it’s a race and it has a gross stereotype, Michael Bay can exploit it for 13 year-old minds.

TRANSFORMERS 2 is scheduled for a June 2009 release. At least there will likely be more Megan Fox in store for us – my God, if she didn’t make the first one worth watching…
