In 2009, there will be A German Werewolf in America. No, I am not talking about yet another sequel to Landis’ classic AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. I’m speaking of a new lychanthropic offering heading our way from German writer/director Timo Rose. The flick is called BEAST and the kind souls over at Fango scored a couple fitfully bloody images (like the one above). You can click here to view ’em all. Alex (Joe Zaso) , who has been estranged from his family (Raine Brown and Eileen Daly) , returns to confront certain “issues.” Aside from his day-to-day woes, his biggest trouble is that he transforms into a violent, feral beast – and he’s been given this curse by someone in his family. Meanwhile, another “beast” named Tim (Andreas Pape) is being pursued across the German countryside. These similar people with different stories intertwine, the body count mounts, and a shocking truth is revealed in their wild, blood-soaked showdown.
Zaso had this say say regarding his flick’s director: “Timo is going to present a fresh sense of offbeat action/comedy along with his gallons of gore, so fans will entertained one way or another.” It’s been some time since anybody’s put out an upstanding, stand-alone werewolf flick. Here’s hoping BEAST doesn’t bite the silver bullet when it releases some time in 2009.
