Behind Ultraviolet

Sometimes you don’t even need an excuse…well, at least not much of one. Like taking just about any opportunity to report on a Milla Jovovich project. Why? Do you really need to ask?

Anyway, Movies Online has posted a shoot from the set of her upcoming ULTRAVIOLET. It looks fantastic. I can’t quite decide why, but it almost puts me in mind of the criminally overlooked EQUILIBRIUM. I was pretty interested in the project anyway, but this pic has upped the ante. If you aren’t familiar with the hijinks it plans to bring your way, read on:

In the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease, giving them enhanced speed, strength and intelligence, and because they are set apart from ordinary “healthy” humans, societal riffs push the world to the brink of worldwide civil war between the human government and the enhanced diseased populace.

Caught in the middle is one such infected woman, Violet (Jovovich), who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy, Six, who has been marked for death….

I guess it’s only fair that vampires get a chance to be seen as the put upon victims of prejudice that they really are. The lie has gone on long enough people!
