Fans of the MUMMY franchise and fans of hot chicks collectively shed a tear when the news of Rachel Weisz not returning for MUMMY 3: CURSE OF THE DRAGON was reported. Well, Weisz is still not coming back, but the film has recruited the services of another woman who isn’t so hard on the eyes in the form of Maria Bello. Bello will be doing a full out replacement job, as she will assume the character of Evelyn Carnahan O’Connell, which the previously mentioned Weisz played in the first two installments.
I figured something like this was sure to happen, as the whole “son” angle needed a mom character to compliment Brendan Frasier’s fatherly character. Apparently the only reason Weisz didn’t return for the third MUMMY
film was because of “script problems.”
The MUMMY 3: CURSE OF THE DRAGON follows the adventures of the O’Connells and their full-grown son (Luke Ford) to the forbidden tombs of China and the Himalayas, where they battle a shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor (Jet Li) cursed by a wizard.
