Even Ben Affleck does remakes these days, both as a director and as an actor. That's what 20th Century Fox is inking a deal with the current Batman to do, as he gets set to adapt the Agatha Christie short story and plan WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION. That story was first done by Hollywood in 1957 with Billy Wilder at the helm with the film going on to nab six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director.

Affleck would play a lawyer whose client is a man accused of murdering a well-off widow after she chose to leave her estate to him in her will. But, as with any Agatha Christie tale, things aren't so cut and dry, and twists and turns aplenty arise during the trial.

Affleck has a full plate on the horizon, having wrapped LIVE BY NIGHT and then having to put in quite a bit of work for the DC Extended Universe between production on JUSTICE LEAGUE and development on a solo Batman film. So there must be something about WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION that really caught Affleck's eye in order to reel him in. After THE TOWN and ARGO, I'm interested to find out.

Affleck can next be seen in THE ACCOUNTANT though, which opens on October 14.
