Looks like things are starting to heat up on the long-rumored Netflix PUNISHER series. When Jon Bernthal's tortured take on the character first appeared on DAREDEVIL season 2, fans were immediately clamoring for him to have his own solo series. While I haven't watched the DAREDEVIL series myself, of what I've seen of Bernthal's take, I'd say that I'm a fan of it as well.
Add Ben Barnes to the cast as an, as of yet, unspecified villain. Although, rumors are that he is playing Bobby Saint, crime savant that was played by James Carpinello in the 2004 PUNISHER film (a movie I hated, but loved Thomas Jane in. Man, that guy deserves better).
Anyway, this seems like solid casting. I've liked everything I've seen Barnes in (CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN, STARDUST), so I think he'll make a fine, weasely, greasy villain you want Punisher to kill the shit out of. Hell, if it turns out the rumors are false and he's not playing Bobby Saint, I think he'd make an awesome Jigsaw.
No official release date has been set for PUNISHER, though it is rumored to be premeiring Fall 2017.
