Benedict Cumberbatch looks disturbingly similar to Julian Assange in The Fifth Estate

So okay, maybe the wig isn’t so good, but still…

This is the first photo of Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Brühl in the Wikileaks film, now titled, THE FIFTH ESTATE.

As you all may already be well aware, a film is being made by Bill Condon (KINSEY) about WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange. The film is based on two books: Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website by Daniel Domscheit-Berg and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy by David Leigh and Luke Harding.

The story follows, “the early days of the freedom of information warriors up to the notorious information dump by US Army private Bradley Manning. Daniel Brühl will play Domscheit-Berg, Assange’s German spokesman who was the first person he hired at WikiLeaks.”

While the picture may initially make you laugh rather loudly out loud, Cumberbatch does look pretty similar to Assange, and it’s always nice to see Brühl, who was fantastic in INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS.

THE FIFTH ESTATE, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Brühl, Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis, Peter Capaldi, Dan Stevens, Alicia Vikander and Carice van Houten has begun filming and will release November 15th.
