Beverly D’Angelo and Chevy Chase to reunite for an ABC sitcom

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Thirty-two years after they first graced movie screens as Clark and Ellen Griswold, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are reuniting for a new ABC sitcom. Even though they will also appear in the upcoming reboot/sequel to NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate, the two actors will play different roles on the ABC sitcom CHEV & BEV this Fall.

The sitcom will be the first for D’Angelo since her recurring role on HBO’s ENTOURAGE. Chevy Chase is best known in recent years for his role as Pierce Hawthorne on the NBC series COMMUNITY. Chase made headlines when he was kicked off the sitcom due to inappropriate and racial comments. His character was soon killed off the show. Here is the synopsis for CHEV & BEV.

The single-camera Chev & Bev stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo as two baby boomers who are fun, relevant and living a selfish retirement when their world is turned upside down and they are suddenly left to raise their grandchildren.

ABC sitcoms all tend to be very similar and this sounds like it will likely follow the MODERN FAMILY angle. While I do enjoy that series, it has waned in recent years. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo have shown they still have chemistry through a series of commercials in whcih they portrayed the Griswolds, so this may be a show worth checking out.

CHEV & BEV is expected to debut this Fall on ABC.
