Billions: Showtime announces premiere for final season of the series

Showtime announces premiere date for Billions season 7, which will be the final season of the drama series.

Billions, season 7, final season

Billions is officially coming to an end as Showtime has confirmed that the upcoming seventh season will be the final one for the drama series.

Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian [Koppelman] and David [Levien],” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. “This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.

The final season of Billions will see Damian Lewis returning as Bobby “Axe” Axelrod. The actor previously departed the series after the fifth season. When Lewis made his first exit, he posted the following on Instagram: “Thank you @SHO_Billions thank you @briankoppelman @DavidLevien. A pleasure and a privilege to play Axe for 5 seasons with some of the smartest, funniest most talented cast and crew I’ve worked with. I’ll miss the Billions family. Yep, some jobs are more than just a job…. Love.

In addition to Damian Lewis, Billions also stars Paul Giamatti, Maggie Siff, Paul Giamatti, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Dola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey, Daniel Breaker, and Toney Goins. According to Showtime’s official description, the final season of Billions will see “alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.” However, this won’t be the end of the Billions universe as Showtime has several spinoffs in the works, which include Millions, Trillions, and series set in Miami and London.

The first episode of the 12-episode final season will premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime on August 11th, before making its on-air debut on August 13th.
