Billy Dee Williams is lobbying for a return as Lando in Star Wars: Episode VII

Billy Dee Williams has milked his Lando persona as much as any of the other stars of the classic trilogy, but he is the only name we have heard nothing about in relation to STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. What’s up with that?

At a recent comic convention in Seattle, Williams stated that no one from Lucasfilm or Disney has contacted him about any upcoming STAR WARS films, including the proposed Han Solo prequel which Lando would have to figure into prominently. Williams stated simply:

“No one can play Lando but me.”

So, here is my suggestion: film a wraparound story for the Han Solo movie featuring old Harrison Ford and Billy Dee discussing the old days. it may be a cheesy flashback device, but it would allow us to see Original Recipe Lando one more time.

For now, we will have to make due with the likelihood that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will be our link to the STAR WARS of old. But, can you tell me you don’t want a little more Lando?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is slated for a 2015 release, at the earliest.
