While shooting is now underway for ZOOLANDER 2, the cameos for the most part will be shrouded in secrecy. We're obviously familiar with the two leads in Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, and I'm sure someone out there cares that Zoolander's son will have a role . . . but what about the man who had Derek Zoolander's back when Hansel was about to go loco? That's right. Billy Zane is back for round 2 and Stiller took it upon himself to announce this most excellent news via Instagram.
I'm generally not down with sequels after such a long gestation period, but ZOOLANDER is just one of those films that improves with age. If Stiller felt that there was a story worth telling (as he doesn't really need to return to that world otherwise), then I'm down to see it happen! Comedy sequels rarely live up to the originals, but my fingers are crossed that this one will be the exception. I mean, we should at least listen to Billy Zane. He's a cool dude.
ZOOLANDER 2 will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.
