Well here's a fun bit of casting news for this Wednesday afternoon — THR has reported that Pierce Brosnan will be joining the cast of Black Adam as Dr. Fate, aka Kent Nelson, the son of an archeologist who was taught sorcery skills and was given the magical Helmet of Fate. The good doctor is one DC's older superheroes and also happens to be a member of the Justice Society of America, which will be featured in the Black Adam film.

Dwayne Johnson will be starring as Black Adam, but the film will also serve as an introduction to the Justice Society as Noah Centineo is onboard to play Atom Smasher, with Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Producer Hiram Garcia has previously teased his excitement about introducing the team.

We are so excited to introduce the Justice Society, especially Hawkman who’s such a beloved character and one of those heroes who’s always meant so much to the DC universe. Having them play in the same sandbox as Black Adam is going to be fantastic, and for the already established fans of these characters I think they are going to be really excited to see what elements from classic story lines we take inspiration from as we bring these characters together. When you take a powerhouse like Black Adam and inject him into this DC cinematic universe you want to make sure you are putting characters around him that can really up the stakes. As DJ likes to say the hierarchy of power in the DC universe really is going to change so Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone will have their hands full no matter how we choose to have them interact with Black Adam.

Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram earlier this week to show off the Black Adam script and to confirm that they're about three weeks out from shooting. "We are approximately three weeks away from shooting Black Adam and I can’t believe we are at the finish line with this thing," Johnson said in the video. "And what a journey it has been. Actually, I can believe it considering how hard we’ve worked over the years." The film is also slated to star Sarah Shahi as "a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq," as well as Marwan Kenzari in a mysterious role expected to be the main villain.
